Observing the Unknown, 2016
How do we approach a society we don’t know? How is our culture shaping our point of view?
Observing the Unknown is a project about missing information in a world overloaded with imagery and data and how we deal with it. On North Sentinel Island, in the indian ocean, lives an Indigenous tribe, who rejects every contact to other people and remain untouched by the modern world. It has become an object for Western projection, imagination, political ideas and radical theories. Through the combination of stock footage from latest advertisement clips, it creates a criticism of the idealized and stereotyped image of the Western world and asks questions about principles, norms, and desires.
