The artist Nora Papp realizes picture without any shooting. She uses individual filters of the Instagram application and the dissection of digital image to collect "aesthetic data", which consists of the scientifically listed decisions on how to apply the appropriated filters to an uploaded image on Instagram. She then uses Excel to visualize the collected data. In a third step, the data is vectorised in Illustrator and there becomes material that creates new images or shapes that the human eye can associate to objects. Her visual compositions, created entirely from filters and visual effects question the materiality and the status of images in our contemporary digital culture.

Venue: Brunnenplatz
